Two questions. Can you provide a bit more detail on using the sub time alignment, including how the software knows we have a sub and whether it can be applied over an existing measurement?

Bonus question - can the program correct mono smart speakers yet? Thanks for all the great work.

Hi Israel, thanks, and sorry for the wait (we were finishing 1.3.5, out today).

Subwoofer alignment: the app doesn't detect a subwoofer by itself, you tell it. It's offered on the result screen of a stereo measurement made with a measurement microphone (UMIK-1 or another calibrated one), under « Subwoofer » › « Align the subwoofer ». It works on top of your existing measurement: two short extra measurements at your seat, without moving the microphone, the first with the subwoofer off, the second with it on. The app then tells you where the subwoofer and the speakers meet and what to set: the delay (in ms, or as a distance in your amplifier or processor), the polarity, or the phase knob angle if there's no delay setting, and the level. Nothing is changed in the correction itself: you make these settings on the amplifier, processor or subwoofer, then measure again.

Mono smart speakers: yes, as in my reply of 21 October. When you set up the measurement, choose « A single speaker (mono) » under « Your speakers ». (The subwoofer alignment is for stereo pairs only.)

Thanks for both answers. My sub only has 0 or 180 for phase as my preamp has no delay setting. Still worth doing the alignment test? Plus, if yes, once it’s done, sounds like I have to remeasure the system right?

Will try a smart speaker tomorrow
